Rolling Story

Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RollingStory, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to use RollingStory. By registering for an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. We collect your date of birth during registration to verify eligibility.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate, complete information when registering and to keep your account information up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Content Rules

You agree not to post or submit any content that:

  • Is illegal or violates any applicable law
  • Contains hate speech, harassment, or content targeting individuals or groups based on protected characteristics
  • Is spam or unsolicited commercial content
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of others (plagiarism)

RollingStory reserves the right to remove any content that violates these rules, without prior notice.

5. Collaborative Writing

When you contribute to a story created by another user, your content may be displayed alongside that of other authors. By contributing, you grant other authors and collaborators the ability to continue and build upon the story you have contributed to. The Author of a story (the user who created it) is responsible for the overall narrative direction.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain copyright ownership of the story content you create. By publishing or contributing content on RollingStory, you grant RollingStory a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, distribute, translate, and create excerpts of that content for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the platform. This license survives termination only to the extent necessary to maintain previously published collaborative works.

Any monetization of user content is governed separately by Sections 9 and 10 of these Terms. RollingStory retains all rights to the platform itself, including its design, features, and technology. The RollingStory name, logo, and trademarks belong to RollingStory.

7. AI Features

RollingStory offers AI-powered features including AI Proofread and AI Translate. These features are subject to daily usage quotas, and your IP address is processed to enforce those quotas.

When you invoke an AI feature, the relevant text from your draft is transmitted to a third-party AI provider for processing. By using these features you acknowledge and consent to this transmission. We contractually instruct these providers not to use your content to train their models, and RollingStory itself does not use your content to train AI models, except for narrowly scoped abuse-detection systems operating only on platform-internal signals.

Outputs from AI features are provided as suggestions only and are not guaranteed to be accurate, error-free, free of bias, or suitable for any particular purpose. You remain responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before publishing, and for ensuring it does not violate Section 4.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Scrape or systematically download platform content
  • Use automation, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform
  • Attempt to bypass or circumvent daily AI usage quotas
  • Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity

9. Revenue Sharing (Forward-Looking)

RollingStory does not currently operate a payment system, payout system, or revenue-distribution mechanism. The terms in this section describe the model that will apply if and when monetization is introduced. They are intended to bind contributors prospectively so that, when a story later generates revenue, the rules for sharing it are already known and accepted.

Net Receipts: the gross amount actually received by RollingStory from a Monetization Event (defined in Section 10), minus only (i) payment-processing fees, sales/withholding taxes, and currency-conversion fees actually paid to third parties, and (ii) external transaction-specific fees (e.g., agent commissions, legal review fees) directly attributable to that Monetization Event. No general overhead, salaries, marketing, or platform-development costs may be deducted from Net Receipts.

Net Receipts from each Monetization Event of a story will be allocated as follows:

  • 10% to RollingStory (platform operator) as the platform fee
  • 70% to the contributor pool, distributed pro rata among the story's contributors based on each contributor's share of accepted, published pages in the monetized work
  • 20% to an operating reserve for chargebacks, refunds, dispute resolution, and platform sustainability

Author Bonus: if the Author of a story (the original creator) has personally contributed at least 10% of the accepted, published pages of the monetized work, an additional 7% of Net Receipts is paid to the Author from the contributor pool, before the remainder of the pool is distributed pro rata among all contributors (including the Author).

Settlement and Payouts: When monetization launches, contributors with non-zero allocations will receive monthly settlement statements via the platform. Actual payout is conditional on each contributor (a) executing a separate Payee Agreement, (b) submitting required identity, tax, and banking information, and (c) clearing minimum payout thresholds. Until those steps are completed, allocated amounts are accrued but not paid.

Clawback: If a Monetization Event is reversed (e.g., refund, chargeback, fraud finding, or licensing rescission), RollingStory may recover the corresponding amounts from future allocations to the affected contributors, or, if no future allocations are available, request repayment of amounts previously paid out.

10. Monetization Events & External Licensing

"Monetization Events" include, but are not limited to, the following types of transactions involving a story or its derivatives:

  • Licensing for film, television, streaming, audiobook, podcast, print publication, or stage adaptation
  • Translation and foreign-language publication deals
  • Merchandise, branded goods, or character-licensing deals derived from the story
  • Option agreements, development deals, and rights assignments
  • Paid features on the platform itself (e.g., paid serializations or premium-only chapters), if and when introduced

Expressly excluded: RollingStory will not offer, mint, or sanction NFTs, blockchain-based ownership tokens, or any speculative tokenization of user content. Any such transaction is outside the scope of these Terms and is not authorized.

External Licensing Decisions: Any external licensing of a collaborative story (i.e., a Monetization Event involving a third-party licensee) requires the affirmative consent of both (a) RollingStory and (b) the Author of the story. Other contributors are entitled to written notice at least 14 days before signing. A contributor who disagrees with a particular deal may opt out of public credit attribution for that deal, but may not block the deal and will still receive their pro-rata share of Net Receipts under Section 9.

11. Inactive, Incapacitated, and Minor Contributors

Contributors may earn allocations under Section 9 even when they are no longer active on the platform. The following rules apply:

  • Inactive accounts (no successful login for 24 consecutive months): allocations continue to accrue and are reported in monthly statements. RollingStory will make reasonable efforts to deliver payment; if amounts remain undeliverable for 12 additional months despite such efforts, the unclaimed balance will lapse to the operating reserve described in Section 9, subject to any longer holding period required by applicable abandoned-property law.
  • Deceased or legally incapacitated contributors: upon receipt of reasonable documentation, RollingStory will pay accrued and future amounts to the verified estate, heir, or court-appointed representative, in accordance with applicable inheritance law.
  • Minor contributors (under the age of majority in their jurisdiction): allocations will be held until the contributor reaches the age of majority, or, where local law permits, paid to a verified parent or legal guardian acting in trust for the minor.

12. DMCA & Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on RollingStory infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to [email protected]. Your notice should include the elements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), including:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
  • Identification of the allegedly infringing material and information sufficient to locate it on the platform (URL or page identifier)
  • Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, email)
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Counter-notices may also be submitted to [email protected] and must include the elements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3). RollingStory maintains and enforces a repeat-infringer policy and may terminate the accounts of users who are subject to repeated valid infringement notices.

13. Future Payment Systems

RollingStory does not currently process payments, hold customer funds, or operate any subscription, donation, tipping, or payout feature. Sections 9, 10, and 11 are forward-looking and become operative only after RollingStory (a) updates these Terms to remove this section, (b) provides users with at least 30 days' prior notice through the platform, and (c) obtains separate, opt-in consent and a Payee Agreement from each user who chooses to participate. No user is required to enroll in any future paid feature.

14. Termination

RollingStory reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms of Service or engage in conduct that is harmful to the platform or other users. Termination does not extinguish accrued contributor allocations under Section 9 (if any), nor does it relieve either party of obligations that by their nature survive termination.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

RollingStory is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, nor that AI feature outputs will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RollingStory shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts actually paid out to you under Section 9 in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100.

17. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to first attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting [email protected] and allowing at least 30 days for a response. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seoul Central District Court, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence grant you the right to bring proceedings before your local courts.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. For material changes — including any change to Sections 9, 10, 11, or 13 — we will provide at least 30 days' prior notice through the platform before the changes take effect. Your continued use of RollingStory after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept a material change, your remedy is to stop using the platform and, where applicable, request account deletion.
